a writing challenge

Not that I'm going to finish this challenge by the end of the year, but I do need to dust off my journal as I am alive XD.

For anyone who knows me it probably isn't a surprise that I play Marvel Rivals as I am a big Marvel fan. However, I don't necessarily like the the type of game Marvel Rivals is. I don't like third-person hero shooter games. I never got into Overwatch, Fortnite or any other games them. Yet here I am XD. I honestly do blame the IP. I probably wouldn't be playing it if I wasn't Marvel related.

I only recently started playing it. I start during Season 8.5, which released on June 12th. It was a whim one day. My friend wanted to play something with me and he was letting be decided on what. I don't know what possessed me to pick Marvel Rivals, but that was the start of it. I asked him to show me the ropes and here we are.

It really is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Like I said, I don't typically like shooters, but as I play more. It is so much fun. For my own peace of mind, I don't play competitively. I haven't stepped into a ranked match once since I started to play. I only play Quick Matches if I'm playing with a friend, I don't queue solo for it.

There are two modes I love to play. The first being the PvE mode called Blood Hunt. You take on hordes of vampires in four waves with four other players or solo if you're brave and geared enough. The fifth wave you take on a boss in the form of CapWolf(Captain American as a werewolf), Ratatoskr, Dracula or Kingpin. The boss is always random at the end of your run and sometimes you even face two at the same time. Double Dracula and Double Kingpin are the absolute worst. In this mode you also only get to pick between six heroes: Squirrel Girl, Jeff the Shark, The Punisher, Thor, Moon Knight or Blade. I mainly play as Squirrel Girl as she's my highest geared and the one I originally beat the mode with. Everyone else is maxed level as well, but I need to do some more farming to get them better gear. I've learn Thor is the absolutely best for farming. He makes it so easy with his one build XD.

The second mode I love is the 18 vs 18 arcade mode. There's only two maps at the moment and I really hope they add more in the future. You have 18 vs 18 Annihilation which plays in the Grand Garden map. It's basically one big old chaotic deathmatch. Two teams trying to earn points through eliminating players from the opposing team. The first team to reach 120 points wins the match.

The second is the 18 vs 18 Bounty Annihilation which using the K'un-lun (Sheloong Arena) map. Another big old chaotic deathmatch, though this time you're goal 300 points that you earn from eliminating the rival team and capturing the mission area while it's active. Each area has 100 points to claim and once they've been exhausted you move onto to the area, with there 3 areas total. And honestly you don't have to capture the areas. I've been in games where you barely make it to the second area and the other team has already won just from how aggressive they play with those elimins. xD I've also been on the winning side of those types of matches.

Now let's get to the characters! It's Marvel after all! Plenty to choose from to play as. With games like this you have 3 roles: Vanguards, who are your basically your tanks. Strategists, who are your supports/healers. And the Duelist, who are your DPS. As of Season 9.5, there are 15 Vanguards, 13 Strategists and 27 Duelists.
